Advice from The Founding Fathers – Part I

The Second Amendment - The right to bear arms

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

The Founding Fathers thought it was essential for every American to have the right to keep and bear arms as protection from foreign as well as domestic enemies of The United States of America. Anti Second Amendment advocates around our country have done a masterful job of convincing our elected representatives that U.S. citizens shouldn’t be allowed to arm and protect themselves.

I have provided quotes from some of our Founding Fathers who had a lot to say regarding the right to bear arms.

“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” Thomas Jefferson

Unless you have been hibernating the last few months, the takeover of the federal government by the private central banks is as close to tyranny as we have ever seen since the forming of this country. The take over by the central banks actually occurred in 1913 with the formation of the Federal Reserve, but the $8.5 trillion “bailout” of the banking industry (so far) is taking tyranny to levels unthinkable until now.

The Federal Reserve is not part of the federal government. It is a private, for profit bank. The Federal Reserve prints our money, not the U.S. Treasury, which is a violation of Article I, Section 8 of our Constitution.

Article I – The Legislative Branch; states as follows: “The Congress shall have the Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imports, and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States, but all Duties, Imposts, and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States.”

Section 8 states, “To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of Weights and Measures…” Constitutionally the Legislative Branch is supposed to determine the value of our currency. Our politicians decided to turn that responsibility over to “The Fed” who continues to print worthless paper money, which in turn continues to devalue our Dollar.

Wait it gets better. The Federal Reserve loans the federal government money, plus interest. Our tax dollars actually go to repaying the Federal Reserve loan and it’s interest.

“Banks have done more injury to the religion, morality, tranquility, prosperity, and even wealth of the nation than they can have done or ever will do good.” John Adams

“That act (The Federal Reserve Act of 1913) was so outrageous the Fed had to be deliberately designed to look like a branch of the federal government to hide the fact that it's really an all-powerful privately owned banking cartel whose member banks (including all the national ones) share in the vast profits earned from having the most important of all franchises governments alone should have - the right to print money in any amount, control its supply and price, and benefit hugely by loaning it out for a profit including to the government itself that must pay interest on the money it should never have to if it simply printed its own.” Stephen Lendman Populist America.com

“The Constitution shall never be construed... to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.” Samuel Adams

Many cities around our country like Chicago, for example, have outlawed gun ownership. Anti-second amendment advocates have convinced many Americans that we are incapable of safely protecting ourselves. The only flaw in this argument is the criminal who robs, and commits murder is unlawful. Disarming law-abiding citizens doesn’t curb violence, it only empowers criminals. According to the National Center for Policy Analysis, “20 percent of U.S. homicides occur in four cities with just 6 percent of the population - New York, Chicago, Detroit and Washington, D.C. - and each has a virtual prohibition on private handguns.”

“Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty's teeth.” “The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good.” George Washington

A CNN poll conducted in December 2007, showed 72 percent of men supported gun ownership versus 26 percent. 58 percent of women in the poll agreed with gun ownership as opposed to 36 percent who did not.

In 1982, Kennesaw, Georgia passed a law requiring households to own at least one firearm. After the law was enacted residential burglaries dropped 89 percent, and overall crime has stayed low ever since. “A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained in arms, is the best most natural defense of a free country.” James Madison

“A government that does not trust it’s law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is itself unworthy of trust.” James Madison www.quotes.liberty-tree.ca/quotes_byjames+madison

The bailing out of the private banks is only one example of the deterioration of our freedoms. The Patriot Act, cameras at intersections, cameras elsewhere supposedly catching speeders, and cities across our nation banning gun ownership all the name of public safety. Don’t allow the government at any level to take away our right to bear arms. Once we give up the right to defend the Constitution, and ourselves America has no future. Benjamin Franklin said it best, “Anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security.”
